The AMS EVO IV-IX 2.3RR Motor is an AMS EXCLUSIVE! This is the ultimate in road racing power plants providing low RPM torque AND top end horsepower. This is the same race-proven engine that powered AMS TA1 to Overall Championship Wins in the 2009 & 2010 Caribbean Motor Racing Championship Series.

In 2006 we set out to engineer and build an engine that has the RPM range of a 2.0L and the low RPM torque of a stroker. Rod ratio, rod length, and bore to stroke ratio were optimized to support high volumetric efficiency at all RPMs. What we ended up producing was an engine with the broadest power band in the industry!

This is not an off the shelf combination, no expense was spared on this motor. It is stuffed full of only the absolute BEST parts available. The foundation of this motor is an extended deck height block expertly machined to AMS specifications. Extra thick cylinder walls are bored and honed to accept 2.3RR AMS spec pistons which are hard anodized and have a friction reducing skirt coating applied. The pistons have been specially designed for strength while reducing weight to minimize stress on wrist pins, rods and bearings. Our custom length, light weight 4130 billet rods are held to the crank with ARP 625+ Custom Age rod bolts. The rotating assembly is specifically designed for high strength and is meticulously balanced to the gram.

Inside the AMS 2.3RR you will find the finest components and most innovation ever seen in an Evolution engine. Some highlights of this beast include:


  • AMS spec JE pistons utilize our specially designed quench area.
  • Slipper skirt design helps cut down the weight by using less material and using a shorter pin. The 2.3rr pins weigh 92 grams compared to standard length pins at 101 grams.
  • Window milling and internal plunge milling is done to help reduce weight.
  • Black skirt lube is used to help prevent galling and help reduce friction.
  • Green Top Fuel Coating (similar to hard anodizing) of the entire piston is done to help prevent skirt scuffing, improve piston hardness and strength.


Connecting Rods

  • Custom manufactured to AMS specs these rods are longer than stock yet weigh less. The 2.3RR AMS rod weighs 584 grams compared to a standard length Oliver rod at 593 grams.
  • Upgraded ARP 625 custom age bolts with a tensile strength of 260,000 lbs are utilized in place of standard ARP 2000 bolts at 210,000 lbs.



  • Made of the finest 4340 steel, the crank is core hardened, nitride, and mag-particle inspected to ensure there are no flaws.
  • Knife edging is done to help cut through standing oil in the pan
  • Large radii fillets increase strength
  • Improved oiling by implementing cross drilled oil holes

  • 9.25:1 - Is good for most street and race applications. This can be tuned to make great power on pump gas & race gas.
  • 10.0:1- Provides great power and response on race gas for track or strip. This can be run on pump gas with caution. (93+ octane only).
